- Detailed information
- Kinki Nippon Railway and Tondabayashi City worked together to renovate Tondabayashi Station. On this occasion, the mural depicting Jinaimachi was installed in 2024.
The mural was created by Yohei Takahashi, who won the FACE 2022 Judge's Special Award and has worked on art projects along the JR East Railway lines. This mural depicts the dimly lit Jinaimachi, the scene that can only be seen in the minutes between sunrise and sunset, when the colors change rapidly.
The image of the town, illuminated by colored lights that change with the time of day, represents the traditional townscape of Jinaimachi that has remained unchanged through the passage of time from the past to the present. Some modern motifs, such as a traffic mirror, suggest that this scene is not in the past, but in the present. - Website
